Uptown Girl woman's scarf and beach cover-up recalled

On September 24 2010 Health Canada recalled a woman's chiffon scarf and beach cover-up sold under the brand "Uptown Girl" by Fine Line Imports Inc. The items are made of 100% viscose rayon.

The two items are identified as follows:
Style Description CA number

  • Style SC2 Blue chiffon scarf with CA Number CA 25425
  • Style P03009 Multicoloured chiffon blouse/ beach cover-up with CA Number CA 25425

What is the danger?

Results of testing done by Health Canada has revealed that the scarf and beach cover-up do not meet the requirements for textile flammability under Canadian law.

The scarf and beach cover-up could easily catch fire if exposed to a flame or other ignition source such as a lighter, match, candle, stove element or spark from a fireplace or firepit and cause serious burns to consumers.

At time of the recall neither Fine Line Imports Inc. nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

What should I do?

How many of these were sold and where?

It is estimated that 177 of the recalled products were sold at various independent stores across Canada between February 2010 and September 2010.

The scarf and beach cover-up were manufactured in India. The importer is Fine Line Imports Inc. of Toronto, Ontario
