Wading staff collapses - recall

Wading Staff by Simms Fishing Products recall

On Sepember 17, 2010 Health Canada recalled metal staffs used to assist in wading through rivers and streams. Affected wading staffs are visibly identifiable by a silver cable connector.

You can find the item numbers and UPCs on the product hang tag attached to the staff at the time of purchase.

The items that are affected include:

  • 132 centimetres (52 inches) Model AWS101152 UPC code 94264-10102. Colour is Sterling silver.
  • 142 centimetres (56 inches) Model AWS101156 UPC code 94264-10103. Colour is Sterling silver.

What is the danger?

These wading staffs can collapse posing a fall hazard to consumers. At time of the recall neither Simms Fishing Products nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries relating to the use of these products in Canada.

What do I do?

You should stop using the recalled product and contact Simms Fishing Products or an authorized dealer to receive a free replacement staff or a full refund.

How many of these defective units have been sold?

In Canada there have been about 200 units of the recalled products sold through Simms' authorized dealers from March 2010 to June 2010. These wading staffs were manufactured in the United States and imported by Simms Fishing Products, of Bozeman, Montana.
