Stroller brake failure offer free replacement

On June 23, 2011 Britax B-Nimble Umbrella Stroller have been jointly recalled with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC), and Britax Child Safety Inc.

Britax B-Nimble stroller is a single seat umbrella stroller and has the following product codes:

  • U311771 (red)
  • U311773 (green)
  • U311775 (cowmooflage)
  • U311780 (silver-black).

The name "Britax" can be found on the front. On the stroller frame, near the storage basket, there should be a white label on each side of the stroller with the stroller model numbers, batch numbers and date of manufacture.

What is the danger?

The strollers brake may produce an audible click when initially engaged and the brake pedal may remain depressed even though the brake has not fully engaged or locked. It may be necessary to continue to depress the brake pedal beyond the moment of the audible click to achieve full brake function. The initial click may create the false impression with the consumer that the brake is engaged.

At time of the recall neither Britax, the US CPSC nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the brake function of the B-Nimble stroller.

What should I do?

You should immediately contact Britax to receive a free replacement stroller. Until the new replacement stroller is received, Britax recommends the continued use of the stroller but advises consumers to verify that the pedal is completely depressed and confirm that the brake is fully engaged, regardless of the audible click, every time the brake system is used.
