Tommy Bahama mini candle recall

On March 15, 2011 Mini-Candle Travel Sets by Tommy Bahama have been recalled by Health Canada.

This recall involves sets of six mini candles, where each candle is in a bronze-coloured tin container. The candles have the following scents: pineapple paradise, pineapple cilantro, maui mango, coconut mango, hibiscus blossom, and carribean breeze.

The candles are packaged in a beige carton and the sleeve on the carton reads "Tommy Bahama", "mini candle travel set" and "set of 6 mini tins". The recalled sets can also be identified by SKU 101299, which is printed under the barcode on a label on the bottom of the packaging.

What is the danger?

The candle's flame can spread from the wick to the wax, causing a larger than expected flame. This poses a burn and fire hazard to consumers.

Tommy Bahama has received two reports in the United States of candle flames spreading to the wax, with no reported injuries.

At time of the recall neither Health Canada nor Tommy Bahama has received reports of incidents or injuries in Canada related to the use of the recalled product.

What should I do?

You should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to their nearest Tommy Bahama store. Alternatively, you may contact Tommy Bahama Customer Service to receive a refund.
