Tabac "original" spray deodorant recalled

On August 25, 2010 Health Canada announed a recall on "Tabac Original" Deodorant Spray by Prestilux Inc. This recalled spray is available in a 200mL reddish-brown aerosol pressurised container. The UPC code is 4011700410903.

What is the danger?

Unfortunately this product lacks the symbol and warnings required for potentially flammable and explosive products under Canadian law. This lack of labelling information could result in misuse of the product and lead to serious injury. At time of the recall Health Canada had not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

What do I do?

You are to stop using the recalled product and dispose of it as per Municipal Hazardous Waste Guidelines. If you do not know how to dispose of this type of product then call your municipal office for instruction on disposing aerosol containers.

How many were sold and where?

Stores in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec sold about 740 of these units in the pharmacy or fragrance sections. The product was sold from March 2009 to August 2010. It is manufactured in Germany and distributed by Prestilux Inc. of Laval, Quebec.
