Surcharge

On an automobile policy, surcharges apply in accordance with their rating policy with respect to an excessive number of traffic violations and tickets. The surcharge can result from having more then three minor tickets or having a serious or major (or criminal) conviction.

The surcharge relates to the conviction date, not the day the ticket was first presented to the motorist. The surcharge will be for three years - at the same time the conviction will no longer appear on the driver's license motor vehicle report.
