Tech 4 snow bike toy skidoo recall

On January 21, 2011 the Tech 4 Kids OUTER EDGE Snow MX - Ski-doo® and Snow MX-X Games® has been recalled.

This recall involves Tech 4 Kids OUTER EDGE Snow MX - Ski-doo® and Snow MX-X Games® snow bikes. The snow bikes have either a yellow Ski-doo® or blue X Games® emblem on the unit's steel frame and front ski.

What is the danger?

The front ski is defective and can crack or break when in use causing the Snow MX® to suddenly stop. This can create a fall hazard to children using the toy.

Tech 4 Kids has received three reports of children falling off the product and getting injured as a result of the defective front ski cracking or breaking.

At time of the recall Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

What should I do?

You are advise to immediately stop using the Snow MX® bike and contact Tech 4 Kids to arrange for a free replacement front ski and complimentary gift. Alternatively, consumers may also return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.

How many were sold and where?

Approximately 22,000 of the recalled Snow MX® bikes were sold in Canada at Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart, Sears, and Toys R Us stores. The product was also available through Bombardier Recreational Product dealers.

The recalled products were sold from September 2010 to January 2011. The units were manufactured in China. The manufacturer is Tech 4 Kids of Mississauga, Ontario.
