Madeline bunk beds by Pottery Barn Kids have been recalled

Health Canada announced a recall on these bunk beds on August 19 2010. The particular bed is white and is made of wood and medium-density fiberboard. this model has guardrails on either side of the top bunk and a ladder that attaches to the side of the beds.

What is the danger?

It has been determined that the end structure of the bunk bed can pose an entrapment hazard to young children if a child's neck becomes caught in the opening between the post and the decorative moulding.

At time of the recall Health Canada had not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these beds.

What do I do?

Immediately stop using the bed and contact Pottery Barn Kids to schedule installation of a free repair kit. You can contact Pottery Barn Kids at 1-888-779-8692 between 7AM and midnight PT seven days a week or visit the Pottery Barn Kids website.

How many have been sold and where?

The 22 units were sold through the Pottery Barn Kids stores in Vancouver and Toronto from July 2009 to April 2010. The beds were manufactured in Vietnam. The importer is Williams-Sonoma Canada, Inc., a division of Williams-Sonoma, Inc., of San Francisco, California.
