Pottery Barn Kids lamp safety recall

November 18, 2010 Health Canada ordered a product recall of Lamps by Pottery Barn Kids.

The specific lamps by Pottery Barn Kids that have been recalled include:

  • Clay Task Lamp: model number 2467553
  • Montgomery Task Lamp: model number 9691783
  • Montgomery Floor Lamp : model number 9691775.


All lamps have bronze-coloured finishes. The name "Pottery Barn" and the model number is printed on the bottom of the lamp.

What is the danger?

Health Canada reports that the electrical wire that runs through the lamps can be pinched or severed at the lamp's adjustable joint, posing a risk of electric shock to consumers.

Pottery Barn Kids has received one report of a consumer who received an electrical shock when she touched the lamp.

At time of the recall Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these lamps.

What do I do?

You should immediately unplug the recalled lamps and contact Pottery Barn Kids for instructions on how to return the lamps for a full refund.

How many were sold and where?

72 units of the recalled lamps were sold at Pottery Barn Kids stores in Canada from July 2009 to September 2010. The units were manufactured in India and imported by Pottery Barn of San Francisco, California.
