On February 24, 2011 the Golden Tea Lights in Red and White Ornament Tea Light Holder Sets has been jointly recalled.
This Joint Recall is with Pier 1 Imports, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC).
This recall involves tea lights in golden painted tin cups sold in a set of five with either a Red Ornament Tea Light Holder (SKU 2473959) or a White Ornament Tea Light Holder (SKU 2473961). Each tea light and holder set was packaged in a clear plastic container wrapped with a white ribbon. The SKU number is found on the packaging.
What is the danger?
The flame from the tea lights can become very high, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Pier 1 Imports is aware of one report of high flames in Canada and three reports of high flames with one injury in the United States.
At time of the recall Health Canada has not received any report of incident or injury related to the use of this product.
You should immediately stop using the gold tea lights sold with the Red Ornament Tea Light Holder and the White Ornament Tea Light Holder. You may return the tea lights to their nearest Pier 1 Imports retail store where they will be exchanged for new tea lights.

How many were sold and where?
It is estimated that 30,000 of the recalled tea lights were sold in Canada. In the United States, approximately 370,000 tea lights were sold.
The recalled tea lights were sold exclusively at Pier 1 Imports stores. These tea lights were sold from September 2010 through January 2011 in Canada and the United States.
The defective products were made in China and the manufacturer is Pier 1 Imports, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas.
