Passport Canada child travel rule change

Starting December 1 2011 there is a change for children traveling. The requirements is that "require that travel document applications for children under 16 years of age will be accompanied by proof of parentage documentation".

When you are applying for a child passport you now need to include all documents that relate to custody, the access or mobility of the child plus any court documents relating to divorce judgement, separation agreement or order.

Check out the website for complete details and information regarding exceptions to this rule. We do recommend you confirm the limits of you travel insurance coverage as well. Talk to your agent or broker before you leave the province.
