Olympic driving concerns

Olympic safe driving tips

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) has made some suggestions to help drivers cope with some of the frustration which will come with the upcoming Olympic Games. The streets will be busier and expect some road closures in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and Whister in February. To help reduce accidents one should think about what to expect.

The ICBC recommends you apply these tips for safe driving during the Games:

  • Make a special effort to drive carefully, leaving enough room between your car and those around you.
  • Acknowledge the new handheld cellphone/texting ban while behind the wheel.
  • Consider public transit or cycling to work once the Games begin and drivers face reduced street parking in downtown Vancouver.
  • Prepare for different weather conditions when you’re on the road.
  • Offer any guests a safe ride home, and drive responsibly after any Olympic celebrations.

TurnersTips also recommends that you try to fully concentrate on your task, getting safely from here to there and remember, only a fool drinks and drives.
