Molenaar LLC Recalls Electroluminescent Night Lights

The Electrical Safety Authority is notifying the public that Molenaar, LLC has announced a voluntary recall of the Electroluminescent Night Light. You should stop using recalled products immediately.

The unit has Model #2017 (rectangular) and #2019 (house). Both models are white with a green-glowing panel. “71980 U.S.A.” is molded directly above the outlet blades on the back. Over 11,000 of these units have been sold in Canada between September 2005 and September 2009.

What is the danger?

The panel may melt or burn which results in risk fire or electrical shock. There have been four incidents reported with minor smoke and property damage. This type of claim would be insurable. At point of recall there have been no injuries reported.

What do I do?

You are required to immediately remove product from use and discard safely. You need to check what is the applicable local and provincial regulations for throwing these items out.
