Children's PJs with NHL-themes recalled

The children's sleepwear by Mighty Mac Sports with an NHL-theme has been recalled as of August 3, 2010.

This sleepwear is made of 100% cotton. The pajamas were manufactured in China and distributed by Les Productions Mighty Mac Canada Inc. of Montreal, Quebec.

The product that is recalled is either a one-piece sleeper or a two-piece pyjama set. The sleepwear is available in infant sizes six months to 24 months and children's sizes 2-6X. You can check the care label for the style number and CA number.

Here is a list of the PJs that have been recalled:

  • Two-piece PJ sets for boys in red or blue CA number 850965, 851341 and 30958
  • Two-piece PJ sets for girls in white and pink CA number 851116
  • One-piece sleeper for boys in blue or red CA number 851070 and 851072
  • One-piece sleeper for girls white and pink CA number 851073

Health Canada has design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear that must be met under Canadian law. The children's sleepwear that is loose fitting or that has loose edges can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more easily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once one fire the sleepwear can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body resulting in shock and sometimes death. The sleepwear that has been recalled does not met these standards.

At time of the recall neither Health Canada nor Mighty Mac has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this sleepwear.
