Natures Ultimate product safety recall

On February 23, 2011 various chemical products by Nature's Ultimate have been recalled by Health Canada.

This recall involves all sizes of the following chemical products:

  • Concentrated Orange Cleaner
  • Concentrated Cleaner
  • Laundry Stain Remover
  • Pet Stain & Odor Remover
  • NU Solvent
  • NU Stainless
  • Nu Wrench

What is the danger?

Health Canada's auditing process has revealed that the recalled products pose aspiration hazards and subsequently do not meet the warning labelling and child-resistant closure requirements for consumer chemical products under Canadian law.

Aspiration occurs when a chemical product is ingested and then is introduced into the lungs through coughing and/or vomiting. It can result in severe adverse health effects including: pulmonary injury, chemical pneumonia and death. Furthermore, all products packaged in a 120 mL spray container are also classified as flammable.

At time of the recall neither Nature's Ultimate nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these products.

What should I do?

You should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the place of purchase or to the manufacturer for a full refund. If you do not wish to return the products should dispose of them according to Municipal Hazarous Waste Guidelines.

How many were sold and where?

An unknown quantity of the recalled chemical products were sold in Canada.The recalled products were sold from 2008 to Sept 2010.These products were manufactured in Canada by Nature's Ultimate of Calgary, Alberta.
