Motor vehicle report - this declares what tickets or convictions a specific driver has on their record. The record can be from three years to 10 years depending on the type of report requested.

Even when a driver has taken safety/defensive driving to reduce the "points" accumulated due to these convictions or tickets they still appear on the insurance record. In Alberta, the Multi-Nova or camera-type tickets which are assigned to the vehicle's registered owner do not appear on this report.

The insurance answer is that a "clean" MVR will prevent surcharges and possibly give you a discount on your automobile insurance.
