Mustang and Corvette radio control recall

Mustang and Corvette-branded 1/10 Scale Radio Controlled Vehicles recalled

On September 15 2010 Health Canada recalled Mustang and Corvette-branded 1/10 scale radio controlled vehicles. The Mustang branded car has a "Mustang GT" sticker on the vehicle and is identified by product #50-4009. The Corvette branded car has a "Corvette" sticker on the vehicle and is identified by product# 50-4009. The cars come in various colours.

What is the danger?

These cars may short circuit during use, potentially producing smoke and overheating; this poses a hazard to users if they touch the product.

At time of the recall Canadian Tire has received one report of the product short-circuiting, with no reported injuries. Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these cars.

What do I do?

You should immediately stop using the recalled cars and return them to any Canadian Tire store for a refund. You can contact Canadian Tire at 1-416-480-3653 or 1-416-544-6084.

How many were sold and where?

Approximately 55 000 of the recalled toys were sold at Canadian Tire stores across Canada from October 2009 to June 2010. the Mustangs and Corvettes were manufactured in China. The importer is Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd., of Toronto, Ontario.
