MPI (Manitoba Public Insurance)

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is provided by a government-run insurance company from whom all drivers in Manitoba must purchase mandatory or compulsory car insurance.

Manitoba consumers have had public insurance since 1971. If these drivers are not happy with the service provided by MPI or the premiums they are being charged, then these drivers cannot switch insurance companies.

Manitoba auto insurance operates in a “pure” no-fault environment. This means that if you are injured in a car collision, you are entitled to a standard and pre-established set of benefits. If your needs should change or you require additional financial support, you cannot sue for more.
