I am afraid of mosquitos

I am afraid of mosquitos and I am not alone. If there are 100 people standing in a line and one mosquito, that mosquito will pick me. The mosquito that scares me the most is the Culex tarsalis mosquito, which carry and transmit the West Nile virus.

Mosquito bites can be painful. You can also have an allergic reaction. The West Nile Virus is something else. It can cause fatal inflammation of the brain (encephalitis) or the membranes covering the brain or spinal cord (meningitis) in nine mammals, including humans, gorillas and horses. West Nile can also affect more than 100 bird species.

The conditions that are perfect for mosquitos are damp and warming conditions. This sounds familiar. Be aware that the high-risk time period for West Nile is typically mid-July through the August.

Make sure you use your mosquito netting for the little ones in the strollers. Perhaps the back yard gazebo with the netting will become even more popular this year?

Insurance answer

Yes, if you have disability insurance and you do contract West Nile Virus then you should be presenting a claim. You are going to be off work for a while.
