Bathrobe by Mom to Be safety recall

On May 30, 2011 Health Canada has recalled "Giggle Designs" 100% Cotton Children's Bathrobes by Bravo Textiles Inc.

This recall involves 100% cotton Children's Bathrobes with hood sold under the brand name "Giggle Designs". The bathrobes are white and available in sizes 6 to 12 months and 12 to 24 months. The word "Giggle" is sewn on the upper left chest of the robe and on the inner tag. The tie closure is sewn on to either side of the robe at the waist.

The sleepwear can be identified by the words "Giggle Designs", code 50582 and the marking CA 54015, found on the hang tag on the inside of the sleepwear.

What is the danger?

The recalled bathrobes do not meet the design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law.

Children's sleepwear that is loose fitting or that has loose edges can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more easily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once ignited the sleepwear can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body, resulting in shock and sometimes death.

At time of the recall neither Health Canada nor Bravo Textiles Inc. has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this sleepwear.

What should I do?
You should immediately take the recalled sleepwear away from children and return it to the place of purchase (Moms To Be…And More) for a full refund.

For more information, consumers may contact Moms To Be…And More at 416-488-9907, or return the affected product to the company at the following address:

How many were sold and where?

Approximately 158 units of the recalled bathrobes were sold at children's retail store Moms To Be…And More in Toronto. These bathrobes were sold from December 2009 to May 2011.

These products were manufactured in China. The importer is Bravo Textiles of Toronto, Ontario. If this company has purchased product recall coverage then the costs could be claimed under their commercial general liability policy.
