Yes, you can be sued even once you are dead. Michael Jackson's estate is still wracked with lawsuits and financial claims.

It is said that the estate has earned more than $310 million since the singer's death. It was not know how badly Jackson's financial state had gone awry. It is now reported that Jackson died owing more than $400 million.

Now the estate is negotiating settlements over a number of outstanding lawsuits. There is said to be a dispute over the "Thriller" album.

So it appears you can't take it with you and debt will follow you even to the grave. Make sure that you have a will and that your affairs are in order. To fail to do so is a terrible legacy to leave your loved ones.
