Maruyama blower and duster recall

On March 17, 2011 the Maruyama Backpack Blowers and Maruyama Mister Dusters have been jointly recalled with Maruyama US, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC).

This recall involves certain models of Maruyama backpack blowers and mister dusters. The affected tanks are translucent white in colour.

The following model and serial numbers are included in this recall.

What is the danger?

The recalled backpack blowers are equipped with fuel tanks that may leak gasoline, posing a fire hazard to the consumer.

At time of the recall Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

There have been no reported injuries or incidents reported in the United States.

What should I do?

You should immediately stop using the recalled products and bring them to an authorized dealer to receive a free replacement tank. The dealer will install the replacement tank.

How many were sold and where?

Approximately 750 of the recalled blowers were sold in Canada. A total of 19,677 products were distributed in Canada and the United States.

The recalled products were sold from April 2008 to December 2010 in Canada and the United States.

the recalled blowers and dusters were manufactured in Japan. The distributor is Maruyama U.S Inc. of Denton, Texas.
