Joe Boxer Girl's Sleepwear sets have been recalled

Health Canada recalled some styles of girls' 2-piece camisole and boxer sets sold under the brand name "Joe Boxer". The sleepwear is made of 100% cotton and available in various sizes. the recall was posted August 17 2010.

You need to check your purchases for the marking CA 30885. This can be found on the sales tag as well as on a hang tag on the inside of the sleepwear.

Style Number J691012 is a light blue camisole with pink thin-straps and heart-shaped smiley face on the front and light pink boxer with multi-coloured hearts print with light blue trim.

Style Number 671147 is a camisole with thin-traps and smiley face on the front and boxer with small smiley face print and satin bow at the waist. Colours: Blue, Green, Limestone and Pink.

What is the danger?

It has been determined by Health Canada that the recalled sleepwear does not meet the design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law.

Health Canada advises, "Children's sleepwear that is loose fitting or that has loose edges can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more easily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once ignited the sleepwear can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body, resulting in shock and sometimes death."

At time of the recall, Health Canada had not received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this sleepwear.

What do I do?

You take the recalled sleepwear away from the children and return it to the point of purchase. If you need more information, you may contact Boys Will Be Boys at 1-514-384-0000 (extension 298).

How many were sold and where?

The style J671147 were sold at the Bay, Sears and independent retailers. About 10,587 sets were sold from February 2009 to July 2010.

About 1,175 sets of the recalled style J691012 were sold at Sears and independent retailers across Canada from June 2009 to October 2009. These sleepwear sets were manufactured in India. The company who distributed them is Boys will Be Boys/Joe Boxer Kids Clothing Co. of Montreal, Quebec.
