ICBC jury information leak

Recently the outside defense counsel representing ICBC obtained claims histories of members of a jury. The information was gained from one of ICBC's employees.

Jon Schubert, president and CEO of ICBC said in a news release “The disclosure was completely inappropriate and is far from an accepted practice at ICBC.”

The contracted defense counsel was terminated and the matter was reported to the plaintiff’s counsel, judge and jury the morning after the breach of confidentially was discovered. A report was also made to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.

The ICBC is doing a full review of previous cases that were handled by this defense counsel to confirm that this was an isolated incident.
