Honda and Acura brake recall

Honda recalls almost 528,000 vehicles

Honda announced a worldwide recall October 22 2010 of almost 528,000 vehicles.

The recall came the day after Toyota announced a 1.5 million vehicle recall worldwide because of a brake fluid leak.

What is the danger?

Honda has announced a recall because the defective cylinders were built by the same Ohio-based supplier who notified Honda that their vehicles were also affected. The problem is with the failure of the seal in the brake master cylinder. Of course, if your brakes are not working then it is much more likely you will have a car crash.

The Honda recall affects 2005 to 2007 model years of the Acura RL and Honda Odyssey vehicles. Most of the vehicles, almost 427,000 were shipped to the United States.

At time of the recall Honda is not aware of any accidents or injuries as a result of the defect.

Contact your dealer if you own one of these vehicles for the information necessary on how to get your vehicle checked and if necessary, repaired.
