September 30, 2010 is the date for the Healthy Care, Easy Clean, and Close to Me High Chairs Joint Recall with Fisher-Price Canada, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC)

Which units have been recalled?

This recall involves Close to Me, Easy Clean and Healthy Care high chairs made by Fisher-Price. These high chairs all have a folding frame for storage, a three-position reclining seat, and pegs on the back legs (intended for tray storage). You should check the model number on the back of the seat.

  • Close to Me High Chair Model Number H8906
  • Easy Clean High Chair Model Numbers H9178, J4011, J6292, J8229
  • Healthy Care High Chair Model Numbers 79638, 79639, 79640, 79641, B0326, B2105, B2875, C4630, C4632, C5936, G4406, G8659, H0796, H1152, H4864, H7241, K2927, L1912.

Be advised that all Easy Clean and Close to Me high chairs are included in this recall.

Only Healthy Care High Chairs that were manufactured before December 2006 are included in this recall. These specific high chairs are marked with a 6 digit date code on the back of the seat. If the 4th digit is 6 or less, it is included in this recall.

Healthy Care High Chairs manufactured after December 2006 do not have a storage peg and are not affected by this recall.

What is the danger?

Children can fall on or against the pegs on the back legs of the high chair resulting in cuts.

At time of the recall Fisher-Price and the US CPSC have received 14 reports of incidents, including seven reports of children requiring stitches and one report of a tooth injury. One of these occurred in Canada.

Health Canada had not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these high chairs.

What do I do?
You are to stop using the recalled high chairs and contact Fisher-Price for further instructions on receiving a free repair kit.

How many of these units have been sold, and where?

About 125,000 of the recalled high chairs were sold in Canada. the numbers in the United States are higher with approximately 947, 000 of the recalled high chairs distributed to stores.

The sales took place from September 2001 to September 2010 in Canada and in the United States. The units were manufactured in China and Mexico. The importer is Fisher-Price Canada of Mississauga, Ontario
