Hail is a form of precipitation which consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice (hailstones), 5 mm–50 mm in diameter on average, with much larger hailstones from severe thunderstorms.

If your home or vehicle suffers hail damage then you could present a claim to your insurer. Hail damage to your flowers, gardens and trees will not be covered. If you have purchased hail insurance and are a farmer then your crop damage would be paid.

If you have a mobile home and have a bad hail storm then the hail has to piece the building before a resulting claim will be paid. Dimpling to the building, while unsightly, will not be covered.
