GVW

Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) is the total weight capacity of a fully loaded vehicle. This is in reference to commercial vehicles.

You calculate the GVW by adding the weight of the vehicle to the maximum weight of a load that could be carried in the vehicle.

If you don't know your vehicles GVW then check the manufacturers general information on the vehicle. It will tell you. You will likely need this information for your insurance broker or agent when you are adding this unit to your insurance policy.

It is not uncommon for a vehicle that exceeds one tonne to be rated as a commercial vehicle even when it is strictly being used for pleasure purposes. Take control of your insurance - know if you now face a different rating system because of driving a heavier unit.
