Google settles in Buzz claim

The word is out that it has cost Google $8.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit. The suit was filed over Google Buzz, the new social-networking alternative to Facebook.

The settlement money is to be used for legal fees and also to fund groups focused on Internet privacy. the privacy issue was that it made the names of users' Gmail contacts public without their knowledge.

Google has stated that they are committed to offering users transparency. Google has long stated that they are trying to provide the best user experience possible.

The newest innovation in Gmail which allows prioritizing of the mail is one more way that we see Google living up to their promise. Gmail is a home to change and innovation. We can be sure that steps will be taken to see this type of situation will not happen again.
