Food jar stainless steel container recall

On November 29, 2010 Health Canada ordered a recall of Everyday EssentialsTM 500ml and Joe Fresh StyleTM 350ml Double Wall Stainless Steel Food Jars.

These food jars are sold exclusively by Loblaw Companies Limited:

  • Everyday EssentialsTM 500ml Double Wall Stainless Steel Food Jars UPC 5719734797
  • Joe Fresh StyleTM 350ml Double Wall Stainless Steel Food Jars UPC 5719734796

You can identify the 500 mL food jars by red or blue lids and stainless steel jars. The 350 mL food jars have animals or characters such as: pink Pig, red and black Lady Bug, brown Dog, and green Monster Face.

The thermos-type jars are intended to hold warm or hot foods and liquids. There is a possibility for the lids to leak or pop off of the jars which may present a burn hazard to the user due to the hot contents.

Loblaw Companies Limited has received five reports of spill or leak events from customers.

At time of the recall Health Canada had not received any reports of injury due to use of these items.

What should I do?

You should immediately stop use of the storage food jars and return the product to any Loblaw store where the customer service desk will provide a full refund. You do not need to provide a receipt.
