Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand 'n Play Rampway Recall Notice

September 30, 2010 is the date of a Joint Recall with Fisher-Price Canada, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) for the Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand 'n Play Rampway.

This latest recall involves certain toy cars that were sold with Little People Wheelies Stand 'n Play Rampway by Fisher-Price. The Rampway playset includes small cars that a child can push down winding ramps over 60cm (two feet) tall. Only Rampways with item number T4261 were sold in Canada. Item number V6378 was sold in the United States and not sold in Canada.

Only the purple and green cars that are marked "Mexico" on the bottom are included in the recall. If there is a yellow dot on the underside of the car, then the car is not affected by this recall.

Cars marked "China" on the bottom or cars that are other colours are not included in this recall.

What is the danger?

It has been found that the wheels on the purple and green cars can come off; these small components pose a choking hazard to young children.

At time of the recall Fisher-Price has received two reports of a wheel detaching from the toy cars, with no reported injuries. One of these reports was from a Canadian consumer. Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these toys.

What should I do?

You should take the affected toy cars away from children and contact Fisher-Price for free replacement cars.

How many were sold and where?

Canada had sales of approximately 8,020 of the recalled toy cars. In the United States it was close to 100,000 of the toys distributed to the stores.

These recalled toy cars were sold from April 2010 to September 2010 in Canada and in the United States. The recalled units were manufactured in Mexico. The importer is Fisher-Price of Mississauga, Ontario.
