100 best 2011 family friendly employers

What does it take to be considered a family friendly employer? Canada's Top 100 Employers editorial team evaluate each employer in terms of the programs and initiatives they have to assist employees with young families.

These program would include benefits such as maternity and parental leave top-up, the availability of flexible work arrangements and assistance with daycare. Also considered are the employer's health benefit plans, determining whether family coverage is provided (and at what cost), and look at emerging issues in this field, such as benefits for adoptive parents and compassionate leave for taking care of elderly parents.

Another area that is considered is to look at other programs each employer may have to address specific work-life balance issues unique to their industry.
