Disney Princess Pajama Recall

Recall Children's Disney Princess Sleepwear August 4, 2010

Approximately 690 sets of 2-piece pajamas distributed by Paris Geneve have a safety recall. The set has a T-shirt style blue top with an image of a Disney Princess and the words 'Bayou Dreams' on it. The blue pants have a dark blue butterfly design. The pajamas are made of 100% cotton, and is available in sizes 4X, 5X, and 6X.

To verify the recalled item check the tag inside the collar on the T-shirt for 'CA# 10611 / RN# 94006' and 'manufactured by Paris Geneve'.

What is the hazard?

Health Canada samples and evaluates the safety of children's clothing. This process has identified that the recalled sleepwear does not meet the design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law.

When the sleepwear is loose fitting or that has loose edges then there is a higher risk of contact with ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches. Once the pajamas are on fire they can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body resulting in shock and sometimes death.

At time of the recall Health Canada nor Paris Geneve Inc. has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this sleepwear.

What do I do?

Take the pajamas away from the child and return it to the shop where it was purchased to receive a full refund. For more information, consumers may contact Paris Geneve Inc. at 1-(514)-344-4991.

Where were these made and when sold?

The sleepwear was made in China. The products were sold at The Bargain Shop stores in Canada between March and July 2010.
