Defensive Driving

This is a type of driving training for motor vehicle drivers that goes beyond the basic mechanics of driving a vehicle and knowing the rules of the road. The aim of such training is to reduce the risk of accidents.

The course teaches drivers to anticipate and correctly choose the correct technique in a dangerous situation. Part of the training includes the mistakes of other drivers and how to handle bad weather conditions.

Most insurance companies do not give discounts for this type of training. It is more often used by the driver to reduce the points total on the motor vehicle abstract. By doing this, you prevent the loss of the individual driver license. Professional truck drivers who hold a Class One license are often required to complete this type of training.

If you have taken defensive driving, then you should advise your agent or broker as it is good additional information for your underwriter to note on your file.
