DBA is an acronym for "doing business as". This is when a company has a legal name that it is incorporated under but this doing business as another more commonly known name.

An example is when you have a numbered corporation. You are dba XYZ Toys and all your customers know you as XYZ Toys. Your insurance documents need to show both the name of your corporation and the name that you are commonly known as.

Sounds simple? You need to be sure to let your agent or broker know because there is no way they will guess. Take control of your insurance. Make sure that you are well protected.
