Construction causes 9 day traffic jam

And you thought your commute was bad!

There is a nine-day traffic jam outside Beijing that is both a blessing and a curse. It is ridiculously hard on the drivers but the street vendors are making good money from the creeping traffic.

The National Expressway 110 has seen traffic slowed down to a crawl since August 14. The 100-kilometer stretch is jammed with regular traffic, an increase in the transport trucks and highway maintenance work along the route.

The road construction work is not expected to be completed until sometime in September. In the meantime the commute has to start early and end late.
