Comprehensive Home Insurance

This is the broadest form of coverage available on either a home or tenant's policy.

Example: A person who has the comprehensive coverage would find the loss insured usually reads that the policy will cover all risks of direct physical loss or damage excluding certain named perils, such as earthquakes or floods. Everything is included except what is declared not to be.

The person who took the lesser level, a standard form of coverage will find his wording listing the types of losses that are insured. Only the items named are insured. Again, there will be exclusions and limitations on all property policies.

Not all companies offer the same levels of coverage - some may have higher limits or include some of the exclusions. When you compare policies make sure it is "apples to apples".
