Comprehensive Automobile Insurance

This coverage pays for damage to an insured vehicle caused by any perils other than collision or overturning. Examples of perils covered are theft, fire, hail, flood, glass breakage, falling objects, earthquakes, missiles, explosions, windstorms, vandalism or malicious mischief, riot or civil commotion, and impact with a bird or an animal.

The All Risk or All Perils form will include collision and upset of the vehicle.

Consider the difference in coverage when purchasing insurance. Buy what you need at a deductible you can afford. Overall this should save you money. Be aware that if you choose not to insure a particular peril then you are now self-insuring.
