Certificate Of Registration

In British Columbia your Vehicle Registration is the bottom 1/3 of the document you get from your broker when you insure, register, land license your vehicle. This signed certificate must be carried in your vehicle as proof that the vehicle is registered. When you sell your vehicle, you must give the certificate to the buyer.

In provinces other than B.C. it is not uncommon to use this registration as a bill of sale.

You need to check as to what is the requirements of your province or territory in regards to registration of your vehicle. Examples of different types of registration include personal, farm and commercial. Some provinces will require a special inspection of any vehicle not previously registered. This would apply to all vehicles whether brand new or 20 years-old.

Talk to your local registry office to know ahead what you will need to do when you purchase a vehicle.
