Cell phone link to brain cancer

The World Health Organization (WHO) is concerned about electromagnetic fields. There have been instances of a rare and deadly brain tumor that is linked to heavy cell phone usage.

The risk from fields found in cell phones, television, microwaves, radar and radio have been upgraded by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The fields are now grouped under Group 2B which is possible carcinogenic substances.

Group 2B is a group used when animals have exhibited carcinogenic affects but not humans. So that is why you see "possible" in the description.

The type of cancer that is linked to wireless phone use is called Glioma. Glioma is malignant. The most deadly form is Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). If you are not treated for GBM then you will usually die within two to three months.

There is discussion about the increased risk for glioma. Studies have shown that in the highest category of cell phone use, about 30 minutes per day over a 10-year period that there is a 40% increased risk.
