What is the danger?

The harness adjustment strap can become loose during normal use. If the harness system loosens, the child or infant may not be fully protected in a motor vehicle collision. This could lead to serious injury.

Transport Canada has received 10 complaints where the design's harness system would loosen during normal use, with no reported injuries.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians as related to the use of these car seats.

What should I do?

You should immediately verify whether your child restraint system is included in this recall. If the model is included, you need to go to this website for online order form for a free repair kit.

Do not return the product to retail stores. Until the repair kit and its instructions are obtained, Dorel Distribution Canada recommends the continued use of the product but advises consumers to verify the tightness of the harness system every time the restraint system is used.

If you want more information, please contact Dorel Juvenile Group at 1-866-446 2628 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday and between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET on Fridays.

How many were sold and where?

Approximately 135,146 of the recalled car seats were sold by various retailers across Canada.

The recalled products were manufactured in China. The car seats were manufactured between May 01, 2008 and April 30, 2009 inclusively. The time period during which these products were sold is not known.

The manufacturer is Dorel Juvenile Group Inc. of Columbus, Indiana and the importer is Dorel Distribution Canada of Ville St-Laurent, Quebec.
