Canadian Standard Theft Deterrent Systems

ULC S338 is the benchmark for all immobilizer theft deterrent systems. For the after-market systems, the Canadian Standard demands that the immobilizer cut three vital circuits in the vehicle. These are the starter, the ignition and the fuel supply to disable the vehicle.

In Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) systems, the immobilizer will disable the fuel injection system to render the vehicle inoperable. The Canadian Standard requires that each theft deterrent system undergo extensive laboratory testing. Immobilizers meeting ULC S338 offer a proactive means of preventing vehicle theft.

To gain a discount for the Comprehensive or Specified Perils portion of your automobile policy you need to show that the system will immobilize the ignition system. Talk to your agent or broker about your qualifying for this discount.

Turners Tips recommends that you ask questions whether it is your auto, home or business insurance. Take control of your insurance.
