Can I tow an uninsured vehicle?

Towing a vehicle can be costly! Have you ever towed a vehicle for a friend? Did you get proof of insurance?

Tow trucks and garages have special insurance for driving or towing non-owned vehicles. This insurance always includes the liability portion and the coverage for damage to the vehicles is optional.

So, if your friend does not have valid insurance and you tow the vehicle, guess who gets the ticket? That's right, you! If something happened and the vehicle came loose and did damage, guess who pays? Again, you are the lucky winner!

So do not tow an uninsured vehicle. It does not matter if the vehicle is towed by a rope with the wheels touching the ground or towed on a trailer. You must have a pink card.
