Fashion blinds safety concern recall

On January 13, 2011 Health Canada issued a recall on Mini and Venetian Blinds sold by Verti Store Inc.

The recall involves the following three styles of blinds sold by Verti Store Inc.

  • Fashion Blinds - Laminated vinyl mini blinds with two pull cords connected by a knob, forming a loop.
  • Elegante - Laminated vinyl mini blinds with two pull cords connected by a knob, forming a loop.
  • Plaza - Venetian (Horizontal) PVC blinds with two pull cords connected by a knob, forming a loop.


What is the danger?

Health Canada has determined that the recalled blinds have a looped pull-cord which poses a strangulation hazard to young children.

At time of the recall neither Health Canada nor Verti Store Inc. has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these blinds.

What should I do?

You should immediately stop using the recalled blinds and return them to Verti Store for a refund. You may choose to dispose of the blinds in your regular household garbage.

How many were sold and where?

Due to the long time frame during which the products were sold, the quantity of the recalled blinds that were sold at Verti Store Inc. in Quebec is not known. These recalled blinds were sold from 2000 to June 2010.

The blinds were manufactured in China. The retailer is Verti Store Inc. of Laval, Quebec.
