A bailee is a person who has lawful, temporary possession of the personal property of another in trust for a specific purpose, and who is obligated to return it.

This term is more commonly found in commercial insurance policies. A repair shop will have the personal property of others. Another example would be a dry cleaners or furniture refinishing shop.

Be sure to discuss your coverage with your broker or agent. It is important that you have adequate coverage in case of a claim.
