Baby sleeper safety recall

On December 24, 2010 Health Canada recalled the Organic Natural Charm Baby Sleeper (Romper).

This recall involves Organic Natural Charm baby sleepers, labeled as rompers, only in size large. The sleepers are made of 100% cotton and come in five colors:

  • Blue (UPC 7735732901)
  • Pink (UPC 7735733901)
  • Brown (UPC 7735735901)
  • Black (UPC 7735736901)
  • Natural (UPC 7735738901)

These recalled sleepers also have CA23108 written on a white tag attached to them.

What is the danger?

The size large version of the recalled sleepwear does not meet the design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law.

Children's sleepwear that is loose fitting or that has loose edges can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more easily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once ignited the sleepwear can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body, resulting in shock and sometimes death.

At time of the recall neither Health Canada nor Bechimex has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this sleepwear.

What should I do?

You should immediately take the recalled product away from children and return them to the store where it was purchased to receive a store credit.

If you need more information, you may contact Bechimex toll-free at 1-877-899-2688.

How many were sold and where?

Approximately 300 of the recalled sleepers (size large) were sold at a variety of retail stores across Canada from January 2009 to December 2010.

These sleepers were manufactured in Canada. The manufacturer is Bechimex of Markham, Ontario.
