Asbestos Exclusion

In commercial or personal liability claims there is a clear exclusion for payment for any injury that results from asbestos or any material containing asbestos. The exception to this rule would a claim presented from a policy where the wording did not exclude asbestos.

Asbestos is a group of minerals which has long fibres and is capable of withstanding heat. In the past it was used for sound absorption and often mixed into fabric. It is very dangerous because breathing the fibers can make you seriously ill. If you suspect that you have asbestos in your home or building then you should discuss this with your agent or broker.

If you were an employee working on a job site and injured by inhaling asbestos then you would present a claim through your WCB coverage.
